Who We Are
Newjob.ng is a free job platform based in Abuja, Nigeria. We connect Nigerian job seekers with verified employers. This policy explains what data we collect and how we handle it in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Information We Collect
We collect information you give us directly when you create an account, build a profile, upload a CV, or apply for jobs. This includes your name, email address, phone number, location, work history, and education.
For employers, we also collect company details such as your CAC registration number. We use this to verify that your business is real and registered in Nigeria.
How We Protect Your CV
When you upload a CV, your phone number and email address are automatically hidden before any employer can view it. Employers communicate with you only through our secure platform messaging. Your direct contact details are never shared without your explicit action.
How We Use Your Information
- To match you with relevant job opportunities
- To let verified employers review your qualifications
- To send you job alerts you have subscribed to
- To keep the platform safe and free from scams
- To improve how newjob.ng works
Our Legal Bases
We process account, profile, application and employer information where it is necessary to provide the service you request. We use consent for optional choices, such as joining the Corps Member Directory, and you may withdraw that consent from your dashboard.
We rely on legitimate interests to prevent fraud, secure accounts, investigate reports and improve reliability, after considering the effect on users. We process information where necessary to comply with Nigerian law and valid requests from public authorities.
Automated Safety Checks
Automated tools review job posts and platform messages for payment requests, fraud and other safety risks. A flagged result can hold or block content, but account suspension and other significant moderation decisions are reviewed by an administrator. You may ask us to review a decision by contacting report@newjob.ng.
Private CV files are processed to create a protected professional profile. Employers do not receive the original file, phone number, email address or home address.
Service Providers and Transfers
We use carefully selected service providers to operate authentication, hosting, storage, security and automated safety checks. These currently include Firebase and Google Cloud, and OpenAI for limited job-post and message safety review. They process information only to provide services to Newjob.ng under their applicable data-protection terms.
Some providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we use available contractual and technical safeguards and limit the information sent to what the service needs. We do not send private CV files to the job-post or message safety checker.
How Long We Keep Information
Account and profile information is kept while your account is active. Live job posts are published for 30 days unless renewed or closed earlier. Applications and protected conversations remain available while the related accounts are active so users can follow the hiring process.
When you delete your account, the deletion process removes your account, profile, private CV files, applications, messages, alerts, saved jobs and related personal information. Limited de-identified safety and deletion-audit records may be retained only for fraud prevention, dispute handling or legal obligations, then removed when they are no longer needed.
What We Never Do
We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not share your contact details with employers without your action. We do not use your data for any purpose you have not agreed to.
Your Rights Under NDPA 2023
You have the right to request access to your personal data, ask us to correct it, request deletion, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
Job seekers and employers can permanently delete their accounts from Settings after verifying their identity. This removes their account, profile, private CV files, applications, messages, and related personal data. Limited safety records may be retained without direct account identifiers where required to protect users or comply with law. You can also email privacy@newjob.ng for help with a deletion request.
Cookies and Browser Storage
Newjob.ng currently uses only essential authentication and functional browser storage. This helps keep you signed in, complete secure sign-in flows, and preserve information such as an employer job draft on the same device.
We do not currently use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site behavioural tracking. Because no optional tracking is active, the website does not currently display a consent banner. If optional analytics or advertising technology is introduced later, this policy will be updated and visitors will be given an appropriate choice before non-essential tracking is activated.
Data Security
Your data is stored securely with encryption. We use industry-standard security measures to protect against unauthorised access. All connections to newjob.ng are encrypted with HTTPS.
Children
Newjob.ng is intended for people who are legally able to seek work. The service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly create job-seeker accounts for children. Contact privacy@newjob.ng if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Questions and Complaints
For privacy questions or to exercise your data rights, contact privacy@newjob.ng. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before acting on a request so another person cannot obtain or delete your information.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission through its official complaint channels.
